Nurturing Body, Mind & Spirit
YOGA with Hariśakti (Helen)
Hi there, I am so happy you found me on the web and that you are interested in learning about the practices of YOGA.
My name is Helen and I also go by my spiritual name Hariśakti. I have been offering Yoga classes in the community for more than 2 decades and am the creator/owner of Elements of Yoga.
I teach classical Hatha Yoga which includes the physical postures (asana), breathing techniques (pranayama), various meditation techniques such as Yoga Nidra and Mantra chanting.
I am currently based in the Perth hills where I live with my family among the beautiful trees within the shire of Mundaring.
I offer a welcoming and nurturing space in which you can learn the practices of Yoga at a pace that is right for you.
About Helen Dobbie (Harishakti)
Helen began her exploration of Classical Yoga in attending classes at her local recreation center in 1998. Being a young mother at that time she really appreciated feeling nurtured and replenished energetically after attending a class.
She felt calmer, more able to cope with the demands of parenting and a sense of peace. From the positive effects on her well being, Helen was motivated to study yoga and in 2001 commenced a 12 month teacher training course with FINY (Friends in Yoga) in Perth at the Beacon Yoga Center.
At this time she was introduced to the Satyananda lineage of Yoga and much later went on to do further studies in this tradition at the Academy of Yoga Science in NSW. More recently she completed a 200hr course with the Heart of Sound in Rishikesh & online with Anandra George which included the study of the Sanskrit alphabet, Nāda Yoga and various Mantras.
Helen’s learning journey has been ongoing via various teacher training’s attending workshops/retreats with senior Yoga teachers, through her own practice and in immersing herself in Yoga ashrams both in India and Australia.
With more than 2 decades of teaching experience and having taught Yoga in ashrams, retreats, the workplace, local halls, gyms, schools, rec centers and women’s prisons. She is now working towards expanding her offerings online.
Helen is grateful to be sharing the gift of yoga in the community and in connecting with people from all walks of life. She looks forward to being of service and welcoming you into a class one day soon.

Currently Hariśakti (Helen) offers the following -
Hatha Yoga This class offers postures to gently strengthen and stretch the body, breathing techniques to harmonize the vital energy and Yoga nidra or an alternative meditation to calm the mind. Gentle, slow paced and non-competitive with all levels of ability welcome. This is the physical branch of Yoga with its aim being to balance the polar energies of Ida & Pingala or the Sun & Moon, so as to prepare us for meditation practices.
Sound Healing & Yoga A collaboration with talented local musician Storme Reeves of Perth Sound Therapy & Life Coaching. Bringing the healing benefits of Yoga and live sound together in the form of crystal bowls, gong, hoop drum and beautiful vocals. Whilst Harishakti guides you in a supported restorative style of Yoga to assist you in letting go physically and mentally.
Nāda Yoga Workshops/Courses Nāda is a sanskrit word which means ‘sound’ or ‘flow of consciousness’ and the varied practices are based on the premise that the entire cosmos and all that has come into form is as its primal or subtle nature, pure vibration. Through the practice of active listening to sounds in nature, meditative or spiritual music, toning and chanting Mantra’s. We follow the sound current back to the source of all creation. In following the external (ahata) gross or struck sound we aim to cultivate the experience of the more subtle inner sounds of (anahata) the unstruck. These practices offer a way to free ourselves from the mental chatter and attune ourselves with our eternal nature of Peace. From Sound to stillness we come to rest in the subtle sound of silence.
Weekend Retreats This is a time for connection to oneself whilst supporting your overall well-being via the many practices of Yoga. They are a great way to immerse yourself more fully into your Yoga Sādhanā. The shared experience also offers the opportunity to make new acquaintances and form friendships with people that you may have not met otherwise that also share a common interest in yoga. These retreats are inclusive of accommodation, meals and tuition.
Kirtan- Devotional Singing Kirtan is the primary practice of Bhakti Yoga and is a means to give expression to our emotional and devotional nature. This is a group practice where we come together with the support of musical instruments and chant in a call & response fashion. These are offered in various locations in the community.
